In 2006 Gene cut and associate produced DIRTY LAUNDRY. Shot and edited in just over six weeks, it won the Audience Award for Best U.S. Feature and Best Performance by an Actor (Loretta Devine) at the 2006 American Black Film Festival. Distributed by Code Black Entertainment, DIRTY LAUNDRY had it’s theatrical release in December of 2007 and received a 2008 NAACP Image Award Nomination for Best Independent Film as well as a 2008 GLAAD Award Nomination for Best Feature, Limited Release. It continues to air on TV One.
Gene also cut THE SKI TRIP in 2004. The movie had a strong festival run throughout 2004, landing top honors at Seattle G&LFF and the Oakland LGBT Film Festival. When Logo began airing the movie in August of 2005, it became the first black, gay movie ever to broadcast in the US.
